FAQ
Gen 2 builds on the proven foundation of the original Meraki, introducing several refinements that expand capability and compatibility.
1. An expanded 45-step grind range, allowing better coverage across a wider range of beans and roast profiles.
2. Gen 2 introduces compatibility with standard 58mm E61-style portafilters, allowing users to access a wider ecosystem of accessories.
3. A dual-stage water distribution design delivers even flow across the puck, supporting consistent saturation and extraction.
4. More languages support.
Both generations share our benchmark commercial-grade foundation: a rotary pump and dual PID-controlled boilers for stable pressure and thermal consistency. Gen 2 introduces expanded flexibility in precision, compatibility, and workflow—while maintaining the same proven performance platform.
No. The two generations use different portafilter interfaces.
Gen 2 is designed to be compatible with standard 58 mm E61 portafilters, while Gen 1 uses a proprietary Meraki portafilter design.
To ensure proper fit and avoid damaging the locking mechanism, please use accessories designed for your specific generation.
To achieve optimal extraction performance, please ensure the water tank is filled before brewing.
Securely lock the portafilter into place by following these steps: After inserting the portafilter into the group head, turn it counterclockwise until it firmly locks. Note that the logo on the machine does not need to be aligned; it should not be used as an alignment marker for the locked position. With regular use, the portafilter fit will become smoother over time.
To ensure optimal performance and extend the life of your Meraki, we advise using filtered water with hardness below 60 PPM or TDS below 200. While tap water meeting these specifications is usable, untreated tap water can introduce microorganisms, causing odors and making cleaning difficult. For long-term health and convenience, bottled or a reliable home filtration system is preferred.
Most of Meraki's accessories are not dishwasher-safe, especially the drip tray, dosing cup, and portafilter. However, the milk pitcher can be safely used inside the dishwasher.
To use the CoffeeSense™ feature, simply swipe the Meraki coffee bean bag, which is equipped with an NFC chip, on the NFC area of the Meraki machine. The machine will automatically recognize the coffee beans and provide the corresponding suggested grinding and extraction parameters. On the touchscreen, tap the buttons to start the grind and extraction process. Combined with two built-in scales for grinding and extracting, the machine will automatically stop the grinding and extraction process once the desired quantity is reached.
Yes, the Meraki espresso machine uses advanced PID technology for precise temperature control, ensuring consistent, flavorful espresso. The PID system, combined with a dedicated group head heater, maintains optimal brewing temperature at the portafilter, giving you professional-level results with every shot.
The Meraki espresso machine is equipped with dual boilers. The capacity of the extraction boiler is 350ml, while the capacity of the steam boiler is 550ml. Both boilers are made of stainless steel.
The Meraki espresso machine features dual scales, with each scale having a maximum capacity of 1kg.
The heat-up time is around 3 minutes for the 220-240V version and around 4 minutes for the 100-120V version.
